Pumpkin Patch!

I was afraid I had procrastinated too much this year to make it to the pumpkin patch without getting poured on. Luckily it was actually sunny for a while today so my mom, the kiddos and I headed out. The sun did not follow us to the pumpkin patch though. =(

Danica was a little hesitant at first about feeding the goats but after I let them slobber all over my hand to get the alfalfa pellets she apparently decided it was safe.

They had things like this set up randomly around the farm. Fun!

Bone's Bend Pumpkin Patch...of rotting pumpkins.
My there's a super bright pumpkin out there...
Danica and I with our favorite rotting pumpkins....maybe it's so you don't need to carve them? You can just jab your finger into them and make designs? Kid friendly pumpkins anyone?
We played tag.

My mommy says I need to blog...

(sigh) There's been so many super exciting, amazing things that I've been up to this last month it's going to be hard to choose what to blog about...

hmm...

Look at how much space I've already taken up...

Let's see. Danica is liking school. She tells me about recess(if they get to go out-which they seem to not if it's really raining. Poor kids.) She also tells me about what they had for snack which more often than not seems to involve some combination of crackers, carrots, bananas and apples. She spoke every day about not being the "shining star" of the day until lo and behold one day I picked her up and she was wearing a great big star sticker on her shirt. =) Apparently there is a "star" everyday who gets a couple extra tasks to do. Moving nametags was all I got Danica to tell me. When I went to open house I did see that they also get interviewed. She comes home with a lot of crafts and practice sheets for letters and numbers that she's done. She also has acquired a knowledge of nursery rhymes? I thought that a really random thing to be teaching the kids. She got to go to the pumpkin patch with her class last Monday. Her first field trip! Isn't that the greatest thing about school?! I always loved field trips. Anyhow. I'm really glad she's enjoying it.

And in other things Danica...She got a hair cut the other day. She's been begging me to get it cut since last year when she came home from daycare saying her friend got her haircut to her chin. I kept putting it off because I liked her hair long and was afraid if she chopped it off I wouldn't be able to do anything with it. It's curly underneath and straight on top so I liked it long enough to braid and put up in ponies and pigtails, etc. I thought maybe she'd change her mind when she got to school. Nope. BUT when I took her in she decided she wanted it shoulder length instead of chin length. Phew! I ended up really liking it so I'm glad she kept insisting. =)

Mira is doing well. I like to call her Mimi just to drive Rob crazy. She is still so fussy but also quite entertaining and darling. As soon as she's put down she flips over. She's made it pretty far across the room rolling. The first night she started this, just a few days ago, she rolled over to the xbox(which was in use) and was stretching with both her arms and legs to get to the lit up 'on' button. haha. Her daddy caught her in time. =) She is still spitting up buckets but she's got enough chub that we're not worried. She likes pulling her socks off and playing with her feet. She also likes knocking down her stacking cups and getting read to. Which of course I enjoy. =) She's been really hit and miss with her sleeping habits. She resorted to waking up every one to two hours during the night several times these past couple weeks. That was... fun. She won't sleep in her crib well at all in the morning. I tried to get her to go back to bed in it several times this morning...I think it was around 6-7...She would just fidget and whine. As soon as I laid her down on my bed she zonked. Hmm, her hair is still slowly coming out. It's still long in the center on the top of her head. She could have a great mohawk. =)

I'm good. I've been in the mood to read. I've been rereading the Twilight series, including the excerpt from Midnight Sun, just for kicks. I need to go to the library, desperately. I got released from my calling in primary so I get to bum around for a little while. I love my life! I play around with my kids and hang out with my mom a lot. =) I'm getting my haircut on Thursday. That's big news for me. haha.

Rob has been working about 20 hours a week at the courthouse. He is still "enjoying" that. I would find it depressing hearing all the terrible things people do to one another. It's way out of the la-la land I prefer to live in. He has turned in part of his application for the masters program at U of O. He takes the GRE later this week. I know he's also applied for some jobs around the U.S. I think gov't jobs?... Is it terrible that I'm hoping he gets in/chooses the masters program? I'm not ready to leave Eugene. =(

We got family pictures taken the other day. I LOVE them. Click here to check them out.

Okay, this is really pathetic of me but that was the first link I've made. I had no idea it was so easy. Since I am now so talented I can post this link to Mimi's newborn photos. Considering babes was crying the whole time I was impressed at the great pics Brenley got. =)

And here are the pictures that should be expertly dispersed throughout the text... don't you think blogger should allow you to insert a picture wherever...easily?!

Mimi pulling her socks off.
The girls right before walking Danica to school. (We walk most days.)
Awe =)
Danica at the Rotary Duck Race.
Danica has been making gingerbread men at home and school...new hobby?
Danica posed for some pics while I played with the settings on Neil's camera.

She rolled OVER her toys to get there. haha. What fun tricks!

Germies, germies everywhere!

Mirababes came down with her first cold earlier this week. Rob followed this weekend. I was super sick at the beginning of the week, not from a cold though. I think it was food poisoning? Let me tell you- it was unpleasant! Anyhow. We have a sick house! I'm crossing my fingers that Danica doesn't get sick. I think she would be heartbroken if she couldn't go to school. She sure loves it. I like talking to her when she comes home because she's so excited about what she got to do...puppets, playdough, painting, etc. She always tells me what they had for snack and what she did at recess, though she often states that they don't have long enough recess. Can't argue with that! I've been reading a lot lately, Shannon Hale books, to pass the time because I can't do much with a sick baby. For some reason she doesn't cover her mouth when she coughs and sneezes though we try to tell her she must. ;) I played barbies today with kiddo and decided she needs some more barbie clothes. I like collecting toys too much though. I try to watch myself. I love having little girls though! Barbies, dolls, stuffed animals, My Little Ponies galore! I was torturing my poor little sick baby with picture taking today. Enjoy!
Everything goes directly in her mouth of course. It's fun that she likes to play with toys now.
I almost forgot! She flipped over this week! At 3 months and 1 day. We don't have her on tummy-time much because she hates it but I should probably work on that.

I had a birthday!

Yippee! I had a really great birthday. I got to go have lunch with my dad, we went and had birthday brownies with my mom-dad worked late, Rob, kiddo and I then went to chuck e cheese and played, Rob took me to McMenamins and then we got to relax in the Dewsnup's hot tub. It was a really great day. I coerced my family into getting a new family pic taken... had it not been my birthday it probably would have been a while before I could convince Rob we needed an updated one. I tried to doctor the terrible vein out of my forehead. I should practice more. =)

Kindergarten?!

Align Left
I can't believe my little girl is old enough to go to school. Today was her first day. Half her class started yesterday and the rest today. I like the idea of the small class size on the first day. I got to go into the classroom with her to drop her off. I saw that her spot today was seated next to a little boy so I was holding my breath. (She has cried multiple times during church for having to sit next to a boy- I'd appreciate this if she were a teen) She sat down fine but quickly had the sulky look on. She whispered "I'm not so sure about this." haha. cute. She seemed fine by the time I left just a couple minutes later. Her teacher seems real nice. Classic kindergarten teacher. She's currently at school so I'll have to find out how her day went later. (sigh) I miss her.
Oh, and I fear I have already failed her. All of the other little girls were wearing either a dress or a skirt and all but one had leggings on. Did I miss the memo?!?

Shots...

Don't you hate them?! I cried... I wasn't even the one getting them. =( =( Poor babes had a doctor visit today. She cried so hard she was silent for about 5 seconds. Twas terrible!
In better news she is in the 95th percentile for height and 60th for weight. Here's a pic from the last couple days.

Discovery Village

We headed up to Salem yesterday and checked out Discovery Village. It was a toss-up between that and enchanted forest. I learned at the fair the other day that Danica is kinda weary about some kinds of rides, as in will NOT go on them, so we chose Discovery Village. I have a mixed opinion of the place. They had a lot of cool things but it was pretty run down. I think it was probably super awesome twenty years ago before thousands of kids got to it. Kiddo had fun though and that's what is important. I think we used a whole bottle of hand sanitizer...

Danica digging for fossils. When I asked her months ago what she would want to do for a vacation she said she wanted to go camping some place where we could dig up dinosaur bones. Do you think this counts?
I made friends while she was uncovering bones.
This room continued onto a "stomach" you can crawl through.

Ahh, the bubble room. It was closed for cleaning when we arrived but by the time we were done with the adjacent room it was ready. Little did I know we should have enjoyed the precious seconds we were there undisturbed. It soon was packed with what I'm guessing were most of the kids at the place. Twas popular!
I got a kick out of this. That's Danica with a hula hoop and me taking the picture.
They had such random things. This room was China themed. We painted numbers with water on stones. Danica made a pretty good 5. (in chinese)
Babes had fun too. haha. We sat out while Danica played on the playground. I must say the playground was pretty awesome. It was so tall! I went down a slide that was in pitch black for several loops. I guess Danica went down it once with Rob and refused to go again. I don't blame her! We went down another similar but shorter slide a couple times and she was okay with it.
All in all it was a good mini-trip. We were very sad the fam we were supposed to meet up with couldn't make it though. (cough, cough, Keri, cough, cough) ;)
