Danica is a 1st grader!!

This actually makes me want to go private so I can put more details. Oh well, maybe someday.  Danica was excited for school to start.  Then the first day came and she came home asking if she can be home-schooled.  I was so sad to hear this.  She is only a first grader!  It's way too early for her not to like it.  She is in the same classroom as I was in though has a new teacher.  She was also in my kindergarten class last year.  I get a big kick out of this.  =)  She likes it now and talks about playing with her friends Lilly and Colleen. She even gets to see a couple friends that she made while in daycare.  They are in kindergarten but share a morning recess.  I'm glad she gets to see them because she had been saying that she missed them and I felt guilty for not making some attempts at a play date. I think it made school easier for her for a while for familiar faces to be there.  None of her friends from last year are in her class.  We went into parent-teacher conference and the teacher said she's very quiet and seems uncomfortable/unsure a lot.  =(  It was weird to hear because you can't get two minutes of quiet out of her at home.   I really hope she likes her class next year because she seemed to have been doing a lot better in her class last year when she loved school and her teacher.  A positive change this year is that she loves reading now!  She grumbled about it last year but chooses to spend a lot of her time at home reading aloud.  I guess she's mine after all. =)
Since I haven't blogged in forever and I'm just sliding this in, here are pics from this fall.
Danica's first day of the first grade.

She's been more interested in clothes(uh-oh) and was SO excited to dress up in clothes she got to pick out.
We're pretty awesome.

She calls this her, "I love my ducks shirt."

Danica is a big fan of the DSi Uncle Neil gave to us.
Of course if its snows even an inch they cancel school.  I appreciate it.  We don't see much white weather around here.  Unfortunately I slept in and she finally woke me up so pitifully sad that the snow was melting and she didn't get to play in it.  I felt awful.  She was happy enough to get to play in the snow that was still covering the car so I guess she wasn't traumatized.
We worked together to make a little snowgirl.  =)
The girls enjoying playing with their kitchen and accessories.
A picture we see a lot in one form another. She is often reading.  I love it!

Summer 2010

Just some random pics from this summer.  It was a pretty quiet summer.
Danica's last day of kindergarten.

It's sunny!!!

Danica lost the training wheels.  =)

Luckily we got to spend several warn summer days like this.  Thanks to the Heidemans we discovered Amazon pool.

We got to go on a camping trip with some of the duplex crowd.  =)  Good times! Next time we'll hopefully have a camping site planned before heading out. ;)  That was an adventure all by itself.

We went on VACATION!!

I kept hanging it over Rob's head that he had never met a single member of my extended family.  Well, this summer we remedied that.  =)  We went on a week long vacation, stopping at family member's homes in Boise, ID, Jerome, ID, Stansbury Park, UT and Benjamin, UT.  It was GREAT to see family but it didn't take long for me to want my own bed soooo bad!  Mira did not sleep much and that meant that momma didn't sleep much.  I had to steal pics from Danica's and my mom's camera because my camera sadly stayed in the car.
Danica loved getting to play with cousins.

I don't think Mira knew what to do with a child her age. haha.  It was cute watching them interact though.
We took turns driving.  I guess its the girls' turn?  Actually Rob was my hero on this trip.  He kept saying beforehand that he planned on sleeping the whole time but he drove 90% of the trip.   It was so nice to sit back and relax(aka eat the most astounding amount of junk food).  The drive time flew by for me.

Aunt Mari has a nice pond behind her house that goes through the neighborhood.  I've been on it several times over the years.  This time we went as far away as we can paddle...and then Danica told us she had to use the bathroom.  I was afraid we'd have to pull up to someone's dock and beg to use the facilities.

It took about 2 seconds on the paddle boat before Mira decided she'd rather hang out on the shore.

I sure wish I had gotten pictures at Bounce.  It was SO much fun! I felt like a little kid.

Danica turned 6!!!

I really cannot believe I have a six year old.  It seems like I blinked and years passed.  We asked Danica what she wanted to do for her birthday and she said she wanted to have a dinner with family like last year and she wanted to go swimming and play princesses with Ahna.  Sadly Ahna was moving away just days after Danica's birthday.  It was nice to get to celebrate with her but Danica was a sad little kiddo.
The princesses...

Gpa got Danica a camera for her birthday.
These are a couple of her early shots

We went and visited with the Gpa Dan and Gma Julie
 to celebrate.

Gma Julie just got back from a convention in S. Texas(?)
and brought Danica back some neat gifts!

Lil Sis even got a matching outfit.

She definitely had a great birthday!  Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate!
