We headed up to Salem yesterday and checked out Discovery Village. It was a toss-up between that and enchanted forest. I learned at the fair the other day that Danica is kinda weary about some kinds of rides, as in will NOT go on them, so we chose Discovery Village. I have a mixed opinion of the place. They had a lot of cool things but it was pretty run down. I think it was probably super awesome twenty years ago before thousands of kids got to it. Kiddo had fun though and that's what is important. I think we used a whole bottle of hand sanitizer...
Danica digging for fossils. When I asked her months ago what she would want to do for a vacation she said she wanted to go camping some place where we could dig up dinosaur bones. Do you think this counts?
I made friends while she was uncovering bones.
This room continued onto a "stomach" you can crawl through.
Ahh, the bubble room. It was closed for cleaning when we arrived but by the time we were done with the adjacent room it was ready. Little did I know we should have enjoyed the precious seconds we were there undisturbed. It soon was packed with what I'm guessing were most of the kids at the place. Twas popular!
I got a kick out of this. That's Danica with a hula hoop and me taking the picture.
They had such random things. This room was China themed. We painted numbers with water on stones. Danica made a pretty good 5. (in chinese)
Babes had fun too. haha. We sat out while Danica played on the playground. I must say the playground was pretty awesome. It was so tall! I went down a slide that was in pitch black for several loops. I guess Danica went down it once with Rob and refused to go again. I don't blame her! We went down another similar but shorter slide a couple times and she was okay with it.
All in all it was a good mini-trip. We were very sad the fam we were supposed to meet up with couldn't make it though. (cough, cough, Keri, cough, cough) ;)

Ethan quite enjoyed the Discovery Village when we went last Fall for their Harvest Celebration. We got in with a carved pumpkin! I know what you mean about being run-down. I do know that they keep the place fairly clean because Sean used to work with some students who would go over and clean. The bubble room was fun but so messy - next time we will not go there first. The body room and ball pit thing kinda grossed me out - it just seemed like a haven for germs. Gross. The playground did look pretty cool, but Ethan was only 18months when we went, so we decided to skip it. Next time. :)
I would have been there had the interstate not been closed. I was on my way but unfortunately had to turn around.
That sounds fun- as long as I bring my sanitizer... I couldn't see some of the pics for some reason- but it looks way cool!
